This looked familiar to me, so I went back digging through my art books. Check out Tom Friedman’s book “oh too o three.” He does the exact same thing with mounted cereal, but doesn’t label the names. I don’t think you’ve got one of his pieces, but the creator was probably familiar with his work. Awesome find!

what does the fine print say?!

    • Vy October 15, 2009 at 3:26 pm #

It’s the companies from which that particular type of cereal originated, i.e. General Mills, Kelloggs, etc. Underneath that are probably the dates of their creation.

I am extremely interested in this piece, as my late father had one. Any chance you’d be willing to sell it?

      Hi Michael,

While your offer is tempting, it would probably take an act of heaven for me to part with this. Sorry!

I have this! ! I bought it years ago in an LA thrift store. For years I assumed it was a home made piece until I saw it in a home design magazine. A Northern CA family had it in their kitchen, of course! It’s awesome!

Hi, I’m a writer based out of Maracon, Switzerland and I discovered your site via http://kitchenbitzch.wordpress.com/2009/10/13/cereal-taxonomy/. Do you have any suggestions for up-and-coming writers? I’m hope to launch my own page soon
but I’m a little lost on everything. Do you believe I should start out with a free site like Micro Blogs or invest some cash into a pay site? There are so many options out there that I’m quite overloaded.
    .. Any tips?
